In Room 1 learning means...gaining new knowledge and using this to improve yourself academically and socially. It means taking responsible risks and making mistakes to gain new understandings.
We will know we are successful Room 1 learners when we...
· Demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning
· Set goals
· Ask questions
· Give everything a go.
· Stop and think before we act
· Strive for accuracy
· Are open minded
· Think outside the box
· Think about the consequences.

Term 1 Week 9

Sorry this is late Room 1!
Remember it is parent interview week this week. It is not to late to book in. I have 3:45pm, 4:15pm and 4:30pm free on Tuesday. I also have 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm and 5:15pm free on Wednesday. Bring a signed note from your parent if they would like one of these times.

Don't forget to complete the mandatory current events, mathletics, and reading log and activity.

Extra's
  1. This week you will need to revise your New Zealand Mapping skills before our test on Friday. Make sure you know where the major cities, towns, straits, capes, seas and oceans are.
  2. Research...stay tuned for your topic....

Term 1 Week 8

Good afternoon Room 1.
I'll start with a big thanks for making our camp a great one; it's a shame it was over so quick and now its back to the grind!

This week you will need to complete the three standard pieces of homework (current events, reading log and activity, mathletics). As well as this you need to publish your camp writing.
Remember published work should be...
  • Typed in a font that is easy to read.
  • 1.5 spacing (between lines)
  • Error free
  • No more than one page in length. (Increase the size of the font so it can be read from the wall)
  • Paragraphed.
Your published work should have...
  • A boarder
  • A catchy title
  • Your name on it.
You can e-mail me your published copy rebeccac@remint.school.nz or bring a printed copy to school.

Research

Spend about 20 mins researching chemical reactions.
  • What is a chemical reaction
  • Why does it happen?
  • Example?
I would like to see everyone completing the full weeks homework this week.

Term 1 Week 6

Only one week to go before camp Room 1; are you ready?
By now you should know what you need to contribute to your group for Monday's evening meal. Please share this info with the person in charge of the groceries at your house. We have also talked about what clothing and luggage you need to bring with you...don't forget your wet weather gear!

I am looking forward to seeing this weeks homework. I hope it is top quality! The most important part of the Current Events section is to explain why the story is newsworthy. Justify your answer with information from the article.

If you have any questions email me rebeccac@remint.school.nz

Have a great week.
