Term 2 Week 10

Hi Room 1,
This week your homework time will be dedicated to getting ready for the Science and Technology Fair.

Tomorrow I will ask you about your topic and give you an information booklet and planning sheet. We will then discuss your next steps.
THE AIM IS THAT BY THE END OF THE TERM YOU WILL BE READY TO DO YOUR EXPERIMENT OR MAKE YOUR PROTOTYPE IN THE HOLIDAYS.

Here are some topics to avoid ...
  1. Any product test. For example; What paper towel, fire lighter, fabric is better.
  2. Taste test or preference. For example; Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke.
  3. Anything thing that requires Ethics approval. Usually these topics contain animals.
Remember topics like the corrosiveness of Coke, rusty nails, rotten fruit/bread, how fire proof is fabric, plants and different fertilizers/sunlight hours/water have all been done a million times before so please AVOID these.

The following website might help you pick an interesting topic.   www.sciencebuddies.org
Technology people I haven't found a help site for you yet but i'll keep looking.

Mathletics is also part of home work this week. Your reading should link to your Science and Technology fair topic.

E-mail me if you have any questions. rebeccac@remint.school.nz

P.S - your art looks fantastic!
